Message from the President | Community Safety and Support in Response to UCCS Incident
The CCD community embraces our colleagues at UCCS and everyone affected by this tragic act of violence, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victims and those impacted.

In response to the tragic event at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, early this morning, CCD President addressed the CityHawk community, calling for "an unbreakable bond, offering unwavering support and heartfelt strength to one another." Read Dr. DeSanctis' full message below.

Dear CityHawk Community,

Earlier today, we were informed of a distressing incident that occurred at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, where reports of a shooting prompted an immediate lockdown of the campus.

It is times like these that remind us that we are a tight-knit academic community, where support and solidarity prevail. The CCD community embraces our colleagues at UCCS and everyone affected by this tragic act of violence, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victims and those impacted.

As president, my job is to provide a safe environment where you can learn, teach, or work. That responsibility weighs heavily on me today. Ensuring the safety and well-being of our community is, and always will be my foremost concern.

Should you notice anything suspicious, please promptly report it to faculty, staff, or campus safety/police. Your awareness and participation contribute significantly to the overall safety of our community. As employees, it is our responsibility and moral obligation to be well-versed in how to respond to an emergency. These senseless acts are confusing and infuriating, but in order to heal, it is crucial for us to come together as a community.
