Financial Aid & Scholarships

Special Circumstances

If you have experienced job loss, reduction in income, or other impacts, we have options for you!

Â鶹Éç of Denver understands that special circumstances occur which may affect a student’s financial aid eligibility. This is especially true with the events of the past year. In our commitment to awarding all financial aid-seeking students with the most accurate award possible, we offer a process called, professional judgment.

For the 2022-2023 aid year a student’s financial aid application requests 2020 tax and income information. Given this information is from two years prior, it’s possible the FAFSA doesn’t accurately reflect a student and their family’s current financial situation. A student and their family have the option to request a professional judgment to have their account reviewed and possibly updated.

Please note, a professional judgment may not be beneficial for all students. Some students are initially offered the best possible award, so a professional judgment wouldn’t create any added benefit.
